How we handle your data.
Last updated: May 2026. This is a plain-language overview. We plan to replace it with a more formal version before opening Localyzed to the general public — if anything here is unclear, email hello@getlocalyzed.com.
What we collect
When you sign in, we store your email address. When you fill in your profile, we store whatever you tell us — your name, display name, photo, bio, specialties. When you unlock a guide or commission an itinerary, we store the transaction (amount, the two parties, timestamps) so we can pay guides correctly.
We also store the messages you send through Localyzed's chat. We never share them, but they sit on our database the way any other transactional record does.
What we don't collect
We don't use third-party analytics like Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel. We don't track you across sites. We don't buy or sell personal data. We don't serve ads.
Who we share it with
Notifications
If you opt in to push notifications, your browser issues us a push subscription tied to that specific browser/device. We store it so we can notify you about chat messages, itinerary updates, and new reviews. You can disable push at any time from your profile page (/me/profile) or from your browser settings.
Email notifications fire for the same events. We include an unsubscribe header on every transactional email per the One-Click Unsubscribe standard.
Cookies
We use cookies only for authentication (so you stay signed in across page loads). No advertising or tracking cookies.
Data deletion
You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@getlocalyzed.com. We'll wipe your profile, picks, messages, and transactional records (we keep tax-relevant payout records as long as legally required).
Changes
If we update this page, we'll bump the “Last updated” date at the top. For meaningful changes we'll also email everyone with an active account.
